12 Foods To Keep In Your Car At All Times
Being prepared means being prepared all the time. That can be a challenge when we don’t know what life is going to throw at us at any given time. That’s why it’s a good idea to have a survival kit in your car that includes a variety of food items and equipment.
Here are 12 things that can also help out with a number of emergency and semi-emergency situations.
👉 Water – Keep a few gallons as well as a smaller water bottle to pour into to mix you gatorade or other favorite mixer.
👉 Gatorade Powder - Carrying the powder takes less space than the liquid and you are carrying water anyway so it’s an easy mix.
👉 Jerky – Nutritious, low calorie and protein. It can be a stand alone meal or mixed with noodles and dried veggies for a soup. Just remember that you will need to replace your jerky periodically, if you don’t eat it. Heat will draw the oils out of it, drying it even farther.
👉 Ramen & Dried Vegetables - It’s a great source of carbohydrates to give you energy to keep you going.
👉 Dry Fruit - Dried fruit provides you with something that’s easy to take along if you have to leave your car for any reason.
👉 Canned Fruit – It’s a great source of carbohydrates and can provide variety to dry fruit.
👉 Granola Bars – These are a great emergency food. It’s worth spending the money to buy the better brands, even though they are considerably more expensive. But the amount of nutrition you get from those better brands makes them worth the money.
👉 Nuts & Sunflower Seeds - Nuts are a good source of both fats and protein. Eating a combination of fats and carbohydrates together will keep you going for hours.
👉 Hard candies - Hard candies are great for that quick burst of sugar when you need some energy.
👉 Breakfast cereal – This makes for a great snack or to keep the kids happy.
👉 Doritos – These pull double duty as both food and as a fire starter. The combination of the dried corn and the oils they are cooked in make the chips burn well. Since they are made of corn instead of potato they will keep you full longer than regular chips.
👉 Spices - Whether you’re in an actual survival situation or you’re just stranded somewhere, there’s a good chance that you’ll end up eating things that you might otherwise not want to eat. Bring some spices with you to make it more appealing.
